Oknha Mong Port (OMP), initiated since 2002, was the first private
investment sea-port in the Kingdom of Cambodia, located at Keo Phos
village, Chroy Svay commune, Stung Hav district, Preah Sihanouk
province. It consists of 64 ha of land in the south-west of
Cambodia. The construction started on the first of January 2003.
Also, OMP is the most important economic outlet and the future core
of commercial, industrial and tourism development. OMP was inaugurated and commenced its operation on the first of August 2004. It is now under the joint venture business with TCCI from Thailand owned by Dr. Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, Thai millionaire. In the first step, the port concrete was constructed with 309 long, 22m wide and 5m deep along a 1,700m pier. In the second step, OMP extended the port with 200m long, 22m wide and 7m deep. The company expects that the port will be extended longer and dredged deeper in the time coming. Then the new port will be available for international large vessels with a loading capacity of over 5,000 tons. The total investment capital of OMP is over $20 Million. The annual grand income is approximately $2 Million. OMP was officially inaugurated on 2 December 2004 presided over by Samdech Akek Moha Sena Badei Techo Hun Sen, Great Man and Excellent Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. It was a prestigious ceremony with the attendance of high ranking official of the Royal Government of Cambodia, diplomatic corps, UN agents, NGOs representatives, national and international honorable guests, civil servants, employees, workers and local people in the number of more than 8,000 persons. Oknha Mong Reththy's speech made a commitment that best endeavors will be used to develop the areas with mixed comprehensive goals for business such as resort center, commercial center, marketplace, eco-tourism center, production for export zone and special economic zone following the successful steps of Preah Sihanouk province.
