In the wake of government policies on agro-industrialization, in the
eyes of foreign investors and businessmen Cambodia is being seen as
a country of great opportunities owing to its abundant fertile land,
natural resources and competitive labor force, especially the
repeated raising of costs for agricultural & agro-industrial
products. These three-four main factors will definitely enhance the
production yields and therefore profits for the company. It is also
the first time in Cambodia's history that acacia has been
commercially grown and cultivated by Reththy Kiri Sakor Co., Ltd.
(RKSK) with enormous incentives granted by the Royal Government of
Cambodia.
In 2005, H.E. Dr. Oknha Mong Reththy made his own efforts
and initiated the acacia planting project on 10,000 hectares of
private ownership land that has been bought from local people in
Cheung Kor precinct, Prey Nop district and another area of Thmor
Rieng commune, Stung Hav district, Preah Sihanouk province. Up to
now, RKSK has grown acacia plantation in the areas of about 4,000 ha
and has been determined with its plan to proceed and complete the
area of 10,000 ha by the year of 2010. Oknha Mong Reththy firmly
hopes to the development in the agro-industrial domain and Cambodian
economic growth through the sales of wood-chips, processing
furniture and building the in-place paper mill from acacia products
into the international market.
Acacia trees do not only provide the
socio-economic costs, but also provide a better environment through
producing a big volume of Oxygen (O2), a great contribution into the
reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and progress on managing
the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In a word, Acacia
products must be processed into paper, chip-wood, furniture, and
many others, etc. With the dropping of its flowers, mushrooms will
be naturally grown up for the generation of additional income for
farm workers and local residents.
